2022 Plans

When we are in that liminal space between Christmas and New Year my thoughts often turn to "what next?" I've done years of "making resolutions" and like most of us they fail sooner or later. A few years ago I changed my resolutions from something to give up to something to add or achieve. Which seems to fair better, especially if it is an achievement as you have the whole year to consider steps toward your goal and you don't feel like you're hard done by or missing out.

I also have a vision board to help me plan and achieve but that normally gets refreshed at the Chinese New Year, so not till the end of January 2022.

While I will focus on my "what next" between now and the beginning of the year of the tiger, here are some thoughts on ways to improve 2022 for yourself.

  • Become more mindful - take up a practice like Tai Chi, Qi Gong or meditation. Check out my "Classes, Events and Courses" page for classes in and around the Herts - Essex borders.

  • Simplify - 2020/2021 have taught us an awful lots about our needs and wants, take time to looks at what really counts in your life so you can works out if there is anything you can jettison from your daily life.

  • Just one thing - don't go mad on mass changes or challenges, if we fail we are less likely to try again. Plan change one small step at a time. Create "micro-habits" and watch the small habits stack up into big changes throughout the year.

  • Make space - have downtime or quiet moments, allow them, plan for them and don't guilt trip yourself over them. Space to be helps us all to be happier, healthier and more productive.

  • Prioritise yourself - book a treatment, care for yourself, take time to chill, look for a retreat.

Whatever you're doing in this "in-between" enjoy the last days of the year and start to focus on what you want 2022 to be.

Happy New Year!
